The scenery on this 6 hour private adventure really is amazing, both in quality and variety. As this is a private tour, it will be just your group on the tour, guaranteed. You will feel like an explorer of old with many places where there is no one else around, just awesome nature. With many stops for as long as you want on the interesting places makes your tour very photographer friendly. As your guide is a serious hobby photographer himself, you will feel right at home. Starting off with a stop at the Lagoon of Walvis Bay which is a RAMSAR wildlife preserve site. The lagoon is home to Flamingo and sometimes Pelican, along with other sea birds. South of Walvis Bay is the Walvis Bay Salt Holdings processing plant, with it's striking pink water and mountains of white salt. You will be taken to the top of the dune closest to the processing plant for a birds-eye view of the pink lakes. In the salt pans there is an abundance of sea birds, including the lesser and greater Flamingo. Most of the 60km drive to Sandwich harbor is along the coast, first on a sandy plain, then between fascinating plants. These plants have adapted to living in such hostile windy and salty conditions. The drive on the beach itself is awesome, if the tides allow it. On the beach you might see some cape fur seal, black backed jackal and black backed Cape Cormorant. Access to Sandwich Harbor is tidal, which means that it is not possible to enter at some times of the day, because of the high tide. You can read more about it here. (http://www.awesomechapters.com/tidal-access/) Sandwich harbor itself has two natural tidal lagoons, which is a favorite spot for Flamingo, Pelican and a host of other bird species. Your guide will take you for a walk at the side of the lagoon, if you want to. For a better view of the area your guide will take you up to the view point at the top of the dunes at Sandwich. If dune driving is not your thing, you can climb the dune yourself, it's easy. If you do like the thrill of driving on sand dunes, the return journey has the opportunity of some very large dunes and slip-faces. It's like a roller coaster without the rails. If dune driving is not to your liking, you can leave Sandwich Harbor along the coast as well for a much more relaxed experience. On the way back there is a dune track with some wildlife, mostly Springbuck and Falcon, with the option of larger dunes for the adrenaline junkies. You will also visit the lighthouse of Walvis Bay at Pelican Point, to see the second amazing harbor. The Point is home to a Cape Fur Seal colony, as well as some awesome sights of busy Walvis Bay and the dunes behind it.Your transport on this half day trip is a classic Land Cruiser FJ80, clean and tidy with good air conditioning for the hot days. Please note, this tour goes into nature, far from civilization. As such, there are no toilets. A privacy tent, seat, toilet paper and a hole in the ground will be provided if needed.Free pickup in Walvis Bay, including the harbor of Walvis Bay, is standard for this tour. There are issues with the booking systems, please provide us with an email address on your booking so that we can give you with the best experience possible.Rest assured that these the cheapest private tours on the coast. Per person pricing changes by group size, and is the lowest per person for groups of four or more passengers. In short, you will see many beautiful things, so bring your camera!P.S. If you are viewing this tour on TripAdvisor or Viator, you probably won't see the optional extras for this tour, because the integration on those platforms has some bugs that are currently being worked on.The optional extras include:1. Tiger Heart: My Unexpected Adventures to Make a...

Katrell Christie was a 30-something artist turned roller-derby rebel who opened a tea shop in Atlanta. Barely two years later, her life would make a drastic change - and so would the lives of a group of girls half a world away. I chose the name of my tea shop - Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party - because it sounded whimsical. India wasn't part of the equation. Not even remotely. I didn't do yoga. I had no deep yearning to see the Taj Mahal or tour Hindu temples. Indian food? I could take it or leave it. Yet on a whim, Katrell did go. She witnessed the throngs at the Ganges River, toured the tea fields of Darjeeling, and helped string pearls in conservative Hyderabad. But it was in a crowded Buddhist orphanage where she crossed paths with some girls who would change the course of her life. One night we had a conversation about their futures. What did they hope to be when they grew up? They didn't have any answers. The fear that consumed them was leaving the orphanage. What would happen on the day they were asked to gather their things and leave - to walk out the door and be all alone on the street with no one to turn to and nowhere to go? With her mind racing about their grim futures, Katrell reached the simple conclusion that she couldn't walk away. So instead she walked forward - on a mission to help them in any small way. Once back at her shop, an idea for The Learning Tea was born. By selling tea, cupcakes, scones, and other treats, Katrell raised enough funds to provide life necessities for the girls - safe housing, uniforms, medical care, tutoring, and ultimately, a college education for each of them. To date, The Learning Tea has helped 11 young girls who once faced the bleakest of futures. Tiger Heart recounts Katrell's riveting adventures back to India, through the chaotic streets of Mumbai, to tiny villages with roadside tea huts and hot samosas, to elephant crossings and snowcapped mountain switchbacks of the Hi 1. Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is an unpredictable disorder that affects more than two and a half million men, women, and children in the United States and Canada. Causing patchy hair loss on the scalp and sometimes elsewhere on the body, this mysterious, noncontagious condition can be treated but it cannot yet be cured. Alopecia Areata: Understanding and Coping with Hair Loss is a sensitive yet straightforward guide to the diagnosis and treatment of this poorly understood disease. With great compassion, the authors explain how hair loss can profoundly affect a person's quality of life. They discuss what it means to be diagnosed with alopecia areata, and provide medically reliable information on the latest research, diagnosis, and treatment options. Thompson and Shapiro also offer practical strategies for living with alopecia areata, which can go in and out of remission without any apparent reason. They discuss the physical and psychological adjustments to wearing a hairpiece and give pointers on selecting, securing, and maintaining a wig, whether human hair or synthetic, custom or ready-made. Alopecia Areata includes a chapter devoted to the special needs of children with this condition and concludes with an epilogue that tells the story of a day in the life of a woman with alopecia areata, illustrating the various challenges she faces and the strategies she uses to cope with these challenges. 'The book is an excellent source of information about the disease and the roller coaster emotional ride that usually accompanies it... A pleasure to read because of its intimate style and humor. It will go a long way in helping those with alopecia areata.' -- Vera H. Price, M.D., professor ofdermatology, University of California, San Francisco

The Adventures of Chas from Tas

Thrown into freezing Southern Ocean waters on a stormy, moonless night as a boy Chas from Tas survived and was fated to live a life of adventure as a renegade at sea. Swearing never to take an ordinary job, it's a promise he has kept, voyaging more miles than to the moon one and a half times and back. He has not lived in one country for more than six months for the last forty years, carries his worldly possessions in three small sea bags, takes on missions no man in his right mind would consider, has been searching for Captain Kidd's lost treasure for twenty-five years, survived typhoons and sinking yachts and drunk half the bars in the known world dry. A living legend at sea and an unmitigated disaster on land, his deeply lined, craggy face makes Keith Richards look like Doris Day. Unrepentantly Australian and piratical a sea dog as you'll ever meet, this is the first volume of much requested memoirs - the roller-coaster begins and adventure is at the heart of it. Reviews: 'People say you don't find characters today the way you used to. Well, Chas from Tas proves they still exist. The most amusing storyteller from his own experiences and telling them in a way that always brings a grin to one's face'. Sir Robin Knox Johnston. 'Shipwrecked! Marooned!.......I know from personal experience that sailing with Chas from Tas can be a dangerous undertaking. If you want to experience the thrill of it all without risk to your life read this book now!' Simon Le Bon. 'Renegades at Sea is chock-a-block with the kind of hilarious and hair-raising experiences that provoke either gales of laughter or head-shaking incredulity. Chas from Tas is a one-off original. There is no one else quite like him and there probably never will be again. Which is a very good reason to buy this splendid book'. Bruce Stannard, journalist. 'What never ceases is the string of stories delightfully regaled. 'Renegades at Sea', volume one of this trio, kept me glued to the pages' Bob Fisher, Yachts & Yachting.
